Bookmakers

Bookmakers: Greyhound Racing is one of your core products - so take a moment please to consider supporting the BGRF.

Bookmakers are requested to pay 0.6% of their greyhound turnover to BGRF under the current agreement with the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB).

ABB Chief Executive Malcolm George says:

For the smaller bookmakers who cannot accurately estimate their greyhound turnover, we can accept a payment based on the average LBO turnover for greyhound racing of 12.8%. This percentage is sourced from the latest Gambling Commission statistics (published November 2018) and we'd like to encourage more operators to take advantage of this.

The Remote Gambling Association (RGA) also recommends to its members that they support the BGRF and we welcome enquiries from remote operators as well. For matched or exchange betting, the rate of payment is calculated as a percentage of GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue) from the sportsbook and applied as a percentage of the commission earned on greyhound racing at UK tracks from UK customers. In 2019 the BGRF secured a deal ensuring support from the major online companies in future. To join us, please drop us a line.

The figure of 12.8% of average LBO turnover demonstrates how popular greyhound racing remains for the punter. The voluntary greyhound levy is collected by the BGRF to pay for services vital for the ongoing health and viability of greyhound racing as a sport and betting product. Our core funding areas are welfare and integrity and together these ensure a high level of integrity for your business. Details of how the BGRF spends its income are available on this website and by downloading our annual Report & Accounts here.

With continuing intense Government scrutiny of the betting sector, every new payer to the BGRF, large or small, will make a difference. Please join us.

How to make a payment

The BGRF collects contributions on a six-monthly basis. Some contributors prefer to make annual payments and that is fine.

There are two ways to pay:

By cheque: please make your cheque payable to British Greyhound Racing Fund Ltd,

Genesis House, 17 Godliman Street, London, EC4V 5BD

By BACS (preferred):  please email us for the BGRF banking details here (don't forget to let us have your email address and company name). When paying by BACS please let us have your remittance advice with your full contact details each time.

If you're thinking about making a contribution and would like to see your business listed in our Roll of Honour then please email for further information.

Thank you.

"The ABB stands fully behind the voluntary levy and is proud of the strength of commitment shown by the retail sector, with over 92 percent of all LBOs contributing to the Fund. The levy is an essential means for the transfer of the benefit betting shops receive from greyhound racing back into the sport."

Malcolm George,
