Making a contribution

Bookmakers

Greyhound Racing is one of your core products - so take a moment please to consider supporting the BGRF.

Bookmakers are requested to pay 0.6% of their greyhound turnover to BGRF under the current agreement with the Betting and Gaming Council (BGC). For matched or exchange betting, the rate of payment is calculated as a percentage of GGR (Gross Gaming Revenue) from the sportsbook and applied as a percentage of the commission earned on greyhound racing at UK tracks from UK customers. In 2019 the BGRF secured a deal ensuring support from the major online companies in future and a number of new contributors have since signed up to the Memorandum of Understanding.

The figure of 12.8% of average LBO turnover demonstrates how popular greyhound racing remains for the punter. Online, greyhound racing is growing in significance as part of the mix. The voluntary greyhound levy is collected by the BGRF to pay for services vital for the ongoing health and viability of greyhound racing as a sport and betting product. Our core funding areas are welfare and integrity and together these ensure a high level of integrity for your business. Details of how the BGRF spends its income are available on this website and by downloading our annual Report & Accounts here.

With continuing intense Government scrutiny of the betting sector, every new payer to the BGRF, large or small, will make a difference. Please join us.

How to make a payment

The BGRF collects contributions on a six-monthly basis. Some contributors prefer to make annual payments and that is fine. We’ll liaise with you to arrange a first payment and afterwards a reminder is sent out to contributors every six months.

Pay by bank transfer:

Since lockdown the BGRF has been unable to accept any payment by cheque or answer any postal enquiries. Contributors are requested to make payment by bank transfer: please email us for the BGRF banking details here (don't forget to let us have your company name). When paying by BACS please let us have your remittance advice with your full contact details each time.

If you're thinking about making a contribution and would like to see your business listed in our Roll of Honour then please contact us for further information.

Thank you.
